Moreton In Marsh Playgroup, established in 1989, provides a warm and nurturing environment for children aged 2-4 years. 50pm, the playgroup focuses on a play-based curriculum where children settle well and form strong friendships.

The dedicated staff are positive role models, promoting good behaviour and positive attitudes towards learning. Children are encouraged to explore and develop their concentration skills through creative activities like gluing and painting, and by drawing their own homes.

The playgroup excels in supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), carefully observing and identifying learning gaps to ensure all children make good progress. Children who speak English as an additional language (EAL) receive excellent support, with staff utilising home languages, English, and signs during play, which also broadens other children's understanding of the wider world.

Outdoor learning is a key feature, with children spending much time exploring the garden, searching for insects, and engaging in physical activities like singing rhymes and dancing, which aids their physical development by building large-muscle skills. The playgroup also integrates numbers and basic mathematical concepts into daily activities, such as recognising and sequencing numbers through puzzles.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff observe children and quickly identify any gaps in learning to ensure all children make good progress. They support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities well to achieve their full potential. Staff work closely with parents, other professionals and other settings that children attend, to give children the help they need.

Outdoor space

Children spend a lot of time outdoors exploring the garden. Children talk about the insects and search for snails. Staff sing rhymes with the children in the garden and teach them new dance moves to support their physical development. Children develop their large-muscle skills as they learn to jump and climb.

EAL / language support

Children who speak English as an additional language are very well supported. Staff ensure they use their home language, as well as English and signs, during play. This also helps other children to develop an understanding of the wider world.
