Stow-on-the-Wold Nursery School, established in 2007 and managed by a voluntary committee, provides outstanding childcare on non-domestic premises within the grounds of Stow-on-the-Wold Primary School in Gloucestershire. The nursery, registered for 24 places, cares for children aged two to four years, with 23 children currently on roll.

The dedicated team of five staff members, including a Montessori-trained manager with an early years professional status and a degree in early childhood studies, ensures children receive high-quality care and education. Children demonstrate strong attachments to their key persons and other staff, who foster a calm and nurturing environment, encouraging children to be highly independent learners.

Children typically arrive happy and confidently, quickly settling into play, and showing high levels of confidence and engagement as they solve problems and work together. Staff monitor children's progress regularly to address and close any gaps in learning quickly. For example, when monitoring found a weakness in children's awareness of numbers, staff devised effective ways to promote number awareness further.

Outdoor space

Children have regular access to fresh air and exercise and enjoy exploring the outside area, where they are able to develop their physical skills.
