Mount Carmel Preschool, established in 1995, operates in conjunction with Mount Carmel RC First School, aiming to facilitate a seamless transition for children moving from preschool to first school. The preschool offers sessional day care with the option for full days, specifically catering to children who will be entering first school the following September.
Their curriculum is comprehensive, including early literacy with phonics and numeracy, alongside engaging topic work and celebrations of various multicultural festivals. The dedicated staff maintain close collaborations with professionals and agencies such as the Early Years Childcare and Information service, local colleges, and the teaching staff at the First School, ensuring their practices remain current through continuous training.
The preschool accepts children from two years of age and provides specific terms for holding fees for those who are not yet old enough to start at the beginning of the academic year. They also participate in government funding schemes for eligible children, offering both 15 and 30-hour options.
