Muddy Boots 'Snowdrop Cottage' opened in May 2020 at Memorial Hall in Ninfield, East Sussex. 30pm for 46 weeks of the year, this childcare setting caters to children aged 2 to 5 years.
The nursery was rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted on its latest inspection on 10 February 2023. Children and their families are central to this unique setting, where staff foster learning and provide high-quality activities that spark curiosity and imagination.
Children delight in creating models outdoors and are deeply engaged in their play. The environment is rich in language, tailored to individual needs and interests, ensuring children are happy and nurtured.
The manager and staff have significantly improved the outdoor environment since the last inspection, making it safe and secure with new resources such as matting. Children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) are incredibly well supported, with staff undertaking extensive training to offer effective support, helping children who do not talk when they start to become confident speakers.
The nursery also promotes community engagement, with children planting trees in the local community and learning about growing vegetables in their allotment. Parents describe the setting as 'magical' and 'incredible', appreciating the personalised support, such as home visits to help children settle in.

Inclusion & environment
Children understand about their friends' needs and are inclusive and positive about these; for example, they talk about friends who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and how they make sure they support them. Children with SEND are incredibly well supported, and staff have undertaken a range of training to help them offer highly effective support, resulting in children who do not talk when they start at the setting becoming confident and fluent speakers.
Children delight in creating models with 'sticks and peas' outside, remaining intently focused and deeply engaged. Since the last inspection, the manager and staff have made significant improvements to the outdoor environment, ensuring it is safe and secure with new resources such as matting. Children help each other to get their wellies on when going outside, balancing carefully.
