Mulberry Bush Nursery and Pre-School is an all-year provider in Romford for children aged from two to four years. It accepts government funding for eligible two, three, and four-year-olds. At its inspection in February 2025, Ofsted rated the nursery as Outstanding. The inspector found that staff promote children's communication skills through conversations, action songs, and nursery rhymes. Children are consistently supported to develop their independence, becoming self-sufficient at lunchtime. Staff use children's interests to develop their concentration and have highly effective relationships with parents.

According to the Ofsted report, staff are passionate about outdoor learning and plan stimulating activities. The garden has resources for children to develop strength and coordination, including obstacle courses and bicycles, and they also cultivate fruits and vegetables. For children with special educational needs, any gaps in learning are identified when they start and support is put in place. Staff use basic signs to support children who are learning English as an additional language. Parents reported to the inspector that their children are safe and secure at the nursery.

We foster a curriculum that celebrates magical moments, encouraging children’s curiosity, awe, and wonder. Our play-based, child-led approach allows them to make choices, think independently, and direct their own learning with confidence. Using natural, open-ended resources instead of modern toys, children are inspired to explore, experiment, and create. We believe less intervention from toys leads to more opportunities for communication and thinking.
