About this day nursery

Naunton Park Pre-School Playgroup is a non-profit, community-focused nursery located in Leckhampton, Cheltenham. Operating since 1984 within the grounds of Naunton Park Primary School, the playgroup provides high-quality Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) education for children aged 2 years 9 months to almost 5.

They foster a welcoming and creative atmosphere, benefiting from strong ties with the primary school to ensure a smooth transition for children. The playgroup boasts a dedicated building with a playroom, art and craft area, kitchenette, and its own garden, in addition to a large section of the school playground and a wide array of outdoor toys.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are well supported. The special educational needs and disabilities coordinator is experienced and knowledgeable. She works closely with parents, staff and other professionals to provide children with all the support they need.

Outdoor space

Indoors, children have a wonderful environment to explore, which has been carefully planned to facilitate all areas of learning and maximise all children's engagement. However, planning for the outdoor area does not consistently enhance children's learning opportunities or provide the same levels of engagement as indoors.

Both of my children attended Naunton Park Preschool and I can’t recommend it highly enough. The staff are incredibly trustworthy, nurturing, and experienced — they create such a warm environment where children feel safe, have fun, and truly learn. I loved seeing them both become more independent and confident during their time there. It’s amazing to know this preschool has been supporting families for over 40 years. A real gem in the community!

Our daughter attended Naunton Park Preschool a few years ago, and now our youngest child is currently there and loving it just as much. The staff are consistently warm, caring, and dedicated, creating a wonderful environment where both of our children have thrived. We’ve seen them grow in confidence, make lovely friendships, and genuinely look forward to their time at preschool. We are so grateful to the whole team for all they do – it’s such a special and nurturing place!

Our daughter has been attending Naunton Park Preschool for the past year, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the very first day, the teachers and staff have been incredibly warm, caring, and attentive. They create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, encouraged, and excited to learn. They always have lots of creative play, arts and crafts and a free flow to outdoor activities for the children to choose what they would like to do throughout the day. My daughter loves going and I have noticed her grow both academically and socially over the past year. She’s made lots of lovely new friendships and I love seeing how her interactions with other children have developed. We especially appreciate the regular updates and photo book of children’s time at preschool, making us feel involved in our daughter’s daily experiences. We highly recommend it to any parent looking for a loving and supportive preschool!

Naunton Park Pre-School is a lovely place. My little one enjoys going and has made friends. It is a small group of children and the staff are very friendly and kind. Any queries or concerns are dealt with quickly and communication is very good. They complete a book for each child with photo’s and comments on things they have done over each term which is really lovely to look at.
