New Ark Play Association is an independent charity dedicated to providing a secure, nurturing, and adventurous environment where individuals can develop essential life skills. Their facilities include a traditional Adventure Playground, an Eco Centre, and a City Farm, catering to individuals, families, and groups.
They offer a diverse range of services for children, families, young people, and adults of all ages and abilities. New Ark also provides various volunteering opportunities, fostering social integration, facilitating corporate social responsibility projects, and offering enrichment activities for programmes like Duke of Edinburgh, Prince's Trust, and National Citizen Service.
Additionally, they provide work experience placements in animal care and childcare. Governed by a dedicated management committee of local volunteers, New Ark relies on grants and fundraising efforts to supplement income due to the absence of local authority funding.
They are registered with and inspected by Ofsted for their childcare and preschool services, employing professional play workers and childcare workers. The organisation strives to maintain low user charges, ensuring accessibility regardless of financial constraints.
Although officially named Newark Play Association, it is commonly known as New Ark.

Inclusion & environment
It is clear that where children receive specific funding, this is being used to benefit their individual needs, such as extra sessions or resources to support home learning. Staff effectively support those children who require extra support, working well with parents and other professionals to ensure that children fulfil their potential.
Children learn about nature and exploration at the eco-centre and managing risks on play equipment in the extensive outdoor area. They show good physical skills as they navigate the obstacle course outside, balancing on wooden blocks, climbing, sliding, and jumping a given number of times on the small trampoline.
I love new ark- a great place to bring your kids for day care, or to play in the park during the holidays. The city farm attached to it is amazing, the farm manager is lovely and very kind. You could take your kids down to the farm after school or during the holidays, or even take anyone with additional needs to the farm to spend some time at the farm with the animals. New ark is a lovely place, I recommend it to all.
Read on GoogleSuch a wonderful place offering animals at risk of neglect a safe place to live. The staff spend numerous hours looking after and caring for the animals providing them with everything they need, food, water, clean bedding and a veterinary service if needed in a professional manner.
Read on GoogleOnly one word for it cruel!!!! Completely inadequate living conditions for the animals. Guinea pigs and Rabbits stuck in tiny cages with no outdoor space or indoor run. Hutches thick with waste and very little hay. A horse in a tiny area with no grazing. Rust and broken Hutches everywhere. Alot of research into how to responsibly care and house these animals is very much needed!!
Read on GoogleTraditional adventure playground and city farm with children's play at its heart. A safe place for kids to get mucky, muddy and take risks watched over by play workers. Wish there were more places like this around - my children adored it.
