Old Dairy Farm Nursery, established in 2017, is a childcare setting for children aged 0-4 years located in Petersfield. The nursery operates Monday to Friday, from 7:30am to 6:30pm, 51 weeks of the year, offering an all-year provision.
The curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Children at Old Dairy Farm Nursery make secure progress across all areas of learning, developing strong bonds with key adults and confidently expressing themselves.
The staff effectively integrate outdoor learning, sparking curiosity and early scientific thinking through discussions about light, shade, and shadows. The children are encouraged to explore their environment and test physical skills like crawling, climbing, and riding bikes.
While overall children are supported to develop well, the nursery is working to refine systems for identifying and providing tailored support for children with additional needs or learning gaps at the earliest opportunity.
Our ethos
The Old Dairy Farm Nursery is committed to delivering high-quality care and education, fostering confident exploration and development in children within a natural and engaging setting. They place a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, utilising their rural setting for year-round exploration.
What it's like
Overall, children are supported to develop well from their starting points. They acquire the skills needed to express their wants and needs and are supported to understand and manage their feelings and emotions. All children develop strong bonds with key adults, which supports their confidence and independence as they become resilient learners. However, systems in place do not fully support some children with gaps in their learning to be identified at the earliest opportunity and receive the tailored support they may need to reduce barriers to their learning and/or wellbeing.
Charges are based on either a school day or a full day session. Additional hours and early or late extensions are charged at a flat hourly or half-hourly rate. Funded childcare is subject to an hourly service fee to cover meals and consumables, with two options available depending on the package chosen.

Our daughter started Old Dairy Farm Nursery in January this year aged 8 months. We have nothing but praise for the exceptional, caring, friendly and dedicated staff - she simply loves her time at nursery and always goes off with a smile and comes home very 'chatty'! It is a daunting time sending your little one off to nursery, but the transition was made so easy with up to date pictures and information shared of her progress by the brilliant and attentive staff. The nursery has a wonderful ethos in a beautiful setting with a big focus on outdoor activities, sensory, physical and emotional development - out little girl is certainly thriving and her confidence has grown after only a short time with the nursery. Thank you for everything you do 😊
Read on GoogleMy daughter has attended the setting since she turned 1. Right from her first settling in session, the staff made her feel instantly settled, engaged and content. At 18 months old, she runs in each day without a glance back at me, eager to see what’s been set up for the day. This tells me more than any review could! The daily home cooked meals look and sound delicious and are clearly enjoyed by the children. Beautiful setting - even the drive up to it finishes off the overarching feeling of professionalism that echo’s from all the staff
Read on GoogleOur son has been attending Old Dairy Farm Nursery for almost 2 years now. We cannot fault it. The staff are caring, friendly and so dedicated to learning (for example, every single weekday during lockdown they have uploaded activities, stories, songs etc. to help with development and entertainment of our children - this is still ongoing for those still at home). The setting is amazing, loads of outdoor space used every day, indoor sensory rooms and right on the doorstep of beautiful countryside where the children enjoy outdoor walks, learning all the time. The information we receive on our son is comprehensive and there are regular parents’ evenings alongside detailed handovers at pick up. Our new baby is already signed up ready for January 2021. We feel so lucky to be able to give our child such an excellent, safe and supportive environment. It is truly a brilliant nursery!
Read on GoogleOur daughter has been attending Old Dairy Farm Nursery for nearly 2 years, since she was 8 months old. The nursery setting is just dreamy with plenty of outdoor space, fields of sheep and lovely walks and adventures to be had right outside the back gate. Our daughter absolutely loves it there and has thrived there. Her first day back after lockdown, she was a little nervous (to be expected) but the staff gave her the best and most amazingly warm welcome back and she skipped in. When I collected her, she kept asking me to turn around because she wanted to go back! The staff are so caring and she has built such a lovely relationship with so many of them. We have our newborn son signed up to start at Old Dairy Farm in 2021 already. We wouldn’t dream of sending him anywhere else.
Read on GoogleGreat nursery setting, lovely outdoor setting, safe environment, delicious and nutritious meals, great staff. The management has also handled the Covid pandemic very well by keeping the nursery setting safe and by offering many activities to the children. Our daughter still talks about the Old Dairy Farm and we feel lucky that she was able to attend it. Thank you!
