One Small Step Day Nursery, located on Northfield Lane in Horbury, offers childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Conveniently situated on a main road leading to Wakefield City Centre, it provides an ideal drop-off point for parents with older children attending nearby schools.
The nursery is registered for up to 37 children and offers flexible and affordable childcare solutions, including full-time, part-time, and wraparound care. They also accept government-funded places.
The nursery is committed to providing exceptionally high standards of care and education, following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to ensure activities are interesting, educational, stimulating, and fun. Our ethos
One Small Step was opened with an aim to create a nursery where parents feel completely relaxed and confident to leave their child in the knowledge that they will be cared for in a safe and secure environment. We provide exceptionally high standards of childcare and education for all children. Children are supported in various ways including: good role modelling, interaction, scaffolding, observation and assessments. We follow the Governments Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in order to offer a programme of activities that are interesting, educational, stimulating and fun. A warm and welcoming atmosphere awaits your child.

Staff identify possible gaps in children's learning at an early stage. The manager and staff work alongside other professionals to get children the help they need, with the close involvement of parents.
Pre-school children work together with their friends during play. They stack tyres and planks to make a walkway in the garden.
A nursery that cares, has skilled staff, a manager so on it and all go above and beyond. They helped me and my daughter with many things since she’s started here. Very impressed and grateful

The nursery operates all year round, except for bank holidays, a week in August, and a week at Christmas. There are 11 staff in total, of whom 10 hold a relevant early years qualification at level 3 or above. The nursery provides funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children.
