About this day nursery

Our Den at Hillside is a welcoming standalone baby setting situated within the grounds of Hillside Primary School, catering to children aged 3 months to 3 years. Operating on a term-time only basis for 38 weeks a year, the nursery offers two core session types: a Standard Day from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and a Full Day from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.

The nursery is committed to providing exceptional early years education, with a strong emphasis on continuous staff training and development to ensure skilled and caring professionals. Meals and snacks are freshly prepared on-site daily, aligning with Public Health guidance for balanced nutrition.

Our Den embraces the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, guiding their curriculum and planning activities that promote children's development. They incorporate engaging 'Development Extras' such as Boogie Mites for music and movement, and actively encourage outdoor learning and exploration.

The nursery prioritises clear communication with parents, utilising an online platform called Famly for sharing observations and daily updates. They also offer a straightforward administrative process, avoiding large financial deposits or administration fees, and facilitate payments via Direct Debit.

Conveniently located near the Asda supermarket and a short walk from Lower Earley Day Nursery, Our Den at Hillside benefits from free parking and accessibility to main bus routes to Reading.

There were no children in the early years age range present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation.

Pricing & funding

Charges are based on standard or full-day sessions, offered on a 3, 4, or 5-day weekly basis for 38 weeks of the year. Funding covers up to 6 hours daily, with hours outside this entitlement billed as wrap-around care.
