About this early years setting

Partou Best Friends Day Nursery & Pre-School, located in Mosley Common, offers outstanding childcare for children aged 0 to 5 years old, available on both a part-time and full-time basis. The nursery is purpose-built and boasts a modern, refurbished interior with bright, spacious playrooms designed to foster social and physical development.

Children benefit from natural resources, an impressive sensory room, a soft play area, and a large ball pit. The outdoor spaces are equally engaging, featuring a terraced area on the second floor, a sensory garden, a mud kitchen, and a dedicated green space for babies.

The curriculum is enriched with exciting extra-curricular activities, including swimming lessons and Spanish classes. The nursery prides itself on transparent fees, comprehensively breaking down costs for care, meals, snacks, and consumables such as nappies and sun cream.

Partou Best Friends also welcomes government-funded childcare placements, working closely with Wigan Local Authority to support eligible families. The team is committed to providing outstanding care and a nurturing environment where children can thrive and families feel supported.

What it's like

Children's safety and welfare are not assured due to robust recruitment procedures not being followed and staff lacking adequate support and training. Weaknesses in staff practice remain, and very young children are often cared for by staff who lack the understanding and skills to meet their individual needs. Frequent lapses in good hygiene procedures place children at risk of illness and cross-infection.

My son was there for only two days, but it was a horrible experience. He is 7 now, and he still cannot pass this place without having bad memories come back. I am not talking only about the staff, but about the management as well. The manager openly said “we don’t care” and that my son was “not ready for nursery”, without any empathy or support. She didn’t care that he was still settling in and was crying continuously for three hours. No one even called me to inform me about this. A young staff member, who was left alone in a room with around 9 children, later told me that my son was crying the entire time. I truly feel sorry for both the children and the staff placed in that situation. If I could, I would give minus 5 stars.

Our son attended Best Friends from 6 months old until starting Reception in September. We would wholeheartedly recommend the nursery and preschool to any prospective parents. The standard of care as been excellent, and my son genuinely loves the manager and many many individual members of staff. He still likes to go and visit and tell them about his 'big school' adventures. I had bad postnatal depression and I personally appreciated the support given by the manager to me, as well as knowing that our son was in a loving and safe environment when I couldn't be there myself.

My child loves this nursery & its staff who are energetic, committed and attentive. He also has a milk allergy that is managed and catered for extremely well by the chef. To drop him off and pick him up and see a smiling happy face shows me I made the right decision in choosing this nursery (& I viewed A LOT of others!). He is continually learning new skills and developing thanks to the time, effort and patience of the wonderful women and men working there. I am extremely grateful to be able to send him into this nursery knowing that he is safe and well cared for. Thank you to everyone at Best Friends for everything you do to make the children’s time at nursery the best it can be.

This review is made base on the recent management and changes at the nursery, my older son joined when it was moved to the recent site and there have been loads of improvements. And now I have my second son. The baby room is doing definitely well but the manager is soo unprofessional, there are discriminative undertones and behaviour's towards some parents. I wouldn't recommend it to people of color. Is just unfortunate there are no much nurseries around.

We have been at Best Friends a little over a year and are very happy. All of the nursery workers are kind and attentive and try really hard to make it the best they can for the children. I’m confident he’s well looked after when I’m in work
