Inclusion & environment
The curriculum is ambitious for all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Staff liaise closely with outside agencies and implement consistent and effective strategies to support children. The setting uses additional funding to ensure that disadvantaged children have access to all activities and have any additional help that they need.
Children have lots of opportunities to have fresh air and exercise and to develop their physical skills. Staff help children progressively develop their physical skills, for example, providing ample opportunities for children to enhance their running, balancing and coordination skills outdoors. Older children enthusiastically recall physical actions after listening to the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'. They are delighted to go on a pretend bear hunt in the outside area.
My daughter started at Park Wood Day Nursery in November 2024, and as a first-time mum, I was really anxious about leaving her. The amazing girls in the baby room — Caoimhe, Megan, and Tori instantly put me at ease and were always so reassuring, even letting me call the nursery to check in. Now that my daughter has moved up to the Rabbit Room, she still absolutely loves going to nursery. I’ll admit, I felt a little anxious again about the transition, but the wonderful team — Ellie, Megan, Molly, and Kim have been fantastic. They’ve made the change such a positive experience for both of us. Every single person at the nursery works so hard and always has a smile on their face, which makes such a difference. You can really see how much they all care about the children. I can’t thank all the staff enough for their kindness, support, and the genuine care they show every day. It means so much to know my daughter is so happy and well looked after. ❤️
Read on GoogleFantastic nursery, my child has been coming here for over a year now and the confidence has really been brought out in him. The actual setting as a forest school is lovely, bright, clean and well managed. I have been through some emotional hardship recently, and the nursery staff have been very supportive for me and my little one. I highly recommend this nursery, for the staff, the setting and the values they teach the children here. Well worth to book a visit!
Read on GoogleFrom day one of my child starting at Parkwood, we were made to feel so welcomed and valued by all. Friendly team, inspiring activities and lead by a wonderfully passionate Manager who is always available. The parent zone app is a huge reassurance to me as a co-parent and full time working mum. I love picking my daughter up and hearing about her day and those she's has played so contently with. I'm so grateful for all the effort, care and compassion that Parkwood shows us. Would (and have) highly recommend this nursery 🥰
Read on GoogleAt first I was so worried that my baby won't be well taken care of . These were my thoughts because society scares me alot. But everytime our baby comes home, I asked her what she did and school and if teachers were nice to her and she says yes and with that I'm well pleased with this nursery. I don't ask her these questions because I'm insecured, but because I'm scared of how society treats people sometimes. So yes we , we're happy that we choosed this nursery daughter .Well done to the staff for taking their time to look after our kids.
Read on GoogleLovely nursery, staff are all really friendly, caring, and go above and beyond tailoring to the childs needs. They engage closely with the children, who have the same carers each week. Nice big rooms, lots of activities, and a great outdoor space under the trees. Happy to use our reusable nappies, and to use baby sign with our toddler.
