Inspector highlights
Inclusion & environment
The manager and staff closely monitor children's progress to ensure all children are making rapid progress and effective steps are in place to close any gaps in their learning.
The inspector observed teaching and learning indoors and outdoors. Staff support children to develop excellent physical skills. Babies are learning to control their body and move well, and are learning to balance through baby yoga sessions. Older children are keeping fit with activities such as skipping and have opportunities to borrow bikes from the bike-loan scheme.
My son joined when he was 1 and is now nearly 2.5years. I know that he is well looked after, he is always happy when I come and pick him up and runs to grab his breakfast when we arrive. They have improved massively in communication over the last year. They are always doing lots of great creative activities daily which help them to develop and grow and he has close relationships with lots of the staff in toddler room. I always recommend pembury to our friends who have babies.
Read on GoogleAs a parent at Pembury Nursery I’m extremely happy with all the work that has been done all over the last years. My child is extremely happy everyday from the moment he starts the day in the nursery until the moment he goes home. The staff is lovely and they provide to the children the most fun and exciting activities. Nothing to complain and I would definitely recommend the nursery in the future to family and friends.
Read on GoogleThe parents who are commenting that this is a good nursery might want to spend a day in my flat, which is next to the nursery, my window looks into theirs and I see and hear a lot. I can safely say that I would never send my child there. Choruses of children crying, some left to 'self soothe'/are ignored for 40 minutes +, whilst they're undermined and berated by tired, disinterested staff who are not listening to their individual needs. It's very sad. Other neighbours here have said they feel the same.
Read on GoogleAs a resident who lives in close proximity of the nursery I find the level of crying quite disturbing. I am told that this nursery practices self soothing. No doubt a child might benefit from learning to self soothe when in the company of a parent, but these are very young babies in unfamiliar surroundings. Often there are multiple babies crying, left screaming unattended for well over 5-10 minutes at a time, repeatedly and daily, I struggle to see the lesson, only a lack of care. I have studied psychoanalysis and have been a sole charge nanny for over 10 years and would never feel comfortable leaving a baby to cry alone or in sync with other babies this way. Not my own (who I know well) and especially not others I was being paid to care for. Also the for the babies who stand crying at the back door to be let back in and I would personally try to make some kind of gate to keep the away from this door before fingers get trapped or before the staff don't see the child and knock them over.
Read on GoogleI highly recommend this nursery to anyone who lives in Hackney. My daughter started back in July 2022 and she loves it there, every one of the staff members are lovely. This nursery wasn’t even the one I got recommended too. I wasn’t aware there were two nursery’s in Pembury. I actually found out later, I was at the wrong one. But this mistake really paid off to be something great. Love you guys.
