Pinecones Nursery School offers a stimulating and child-centred environment where each child is encouraged to explore both indoors and outdoors throughout the year. The nursery focuses on supporting children's individual development by understanding their unique needs and challenges.
They pride themselves on getting to know families and involving them in every aspect of their child's journey, creating an environment that feels like an extension of home. With a qualified Forest School leader, children are encouraged to take supported risks in a child-led outdoor setting, engaging in activities like growing vegetables, planting, digging, bug hunting, and den building.
The nursery also places a strong emphasis on continuous professional development for its dedicated team, with qualifications ranging from Level 3 apprentices to qualified teachers. They continually update their safeguarding training and policies.
Pinecones integrates an inclusive approach, supporting children with long and short-term needs through a dedicated SEND team. The curriculum is designed to combine pedagogy, child development, and local area relevance, with specific goals for both baby and main rooms to foster confidence, independence, and a love for learning.

Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
Parents report on how thoughtful staff are and how they support children with transitions both in and out of the nursery, such as helping prepare children for the arrival of a new sibling.
Inclusion & environment
Staff monitor children's progress carefully and recognise when children might need additional help. They work well with other professionals to put in place support for children where necessary. However, staff are not always consistent in their approach to supporting children who require extra help to communicate, and they sometimes struggle to make their needs known.
Children demonstrate an excellent ability to climb and negotiate spaces in the outdoor area, including low-level branches on trees and swings designed to improve upper body strength. Staff encourage children to put on their wellington boots and hats when they play in the outdoor area.
