About this day nursery

Play Days Academy, located in Glen Parva, Leicester, offers professional and reliable childcare services for children aged 0 to 11 years, including holiday care for older children. Situated in an idyllic setting surrounded by countryside, the nursery provides ample opportunities for outdoor play and nature exploration.

The academy focuses on fostering an emotionally supportive and nurturing environment, where learning experiences are tailored to individual interests and tracked through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. They pride themselves on having professionally qualified staff who are extensively checked, dedicated to preparing children for school, and providing individual care with a designated 'special Kkey person' for each child.

Play Days Academy operates an open-door policy, actively encouraging parental involvement and collaboration to ensure each child's needs are met and their growth is supported. The nursery also incorporates unique methods like using amiable animals, Poppy & Flo the resident pet dogs, to teach children empathy and care, and uses multilingual 'board maker' signs to support communication for children and families speaking English as an additional language.

Our ethos

We believe our Nursery Services are excellent and our staff is well trained in looking after the Children’s. At our nursery, we provide an emotionally supportive and nurturing environment that helps the children to develop their learning. We believe that parents are a child’s first educators and we will, therefore, consult and discuss with the parents regarding all aspects of their child’s development and general care and well-being. We promote ‘Every child a talker = ECAT’ stepped approach to parental engagement and work actively to excel in our relationships with parents.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are supported well. Staff invite other professionals to observe children in the nursery and work with them to identify and implement targets to help children progress. Additional resources are purchased to support children's individual needs, such as ear defenders for overwhelming noise levels.

Outdoor space

Children help staff to carry out risk assessments in the garden. They identify potential risks, passing pieces of paper to staff when they find these on the ground. This helps children to take responsibility for maintaining a safe environment to play in and use the outdoor space.

I wholeheartedly urge any parents/carers who are thinking of sending their child here to do it. The whole nursery is amazing, from the staff to each room catered to each age group. My son started when he was 2, when he started he was suspected to have autism and was non-verbal. During the 2 years he's been with Playdays, they've supported him and me through it all. He can now talk, which is just amazing! They helped me with every single step of his asd assessment from Senco meetings, arranging meetings for others who had to come see J.C. and so much more. To arranging his big school senco meeting to pass all their info to them on his needs. He's now finished and ready to start big school and he super excited and got so many skills ready for big school because of playdays helping him every step of the way. The staff members go above and beyond every single day with different activities set out for the kids to play with, I love that they go out of nursery for nature walks my son still loves to tell me about the time they made bird feeders and went for a walk to hang them up. Every mothers and fathers day they do a big thing at the nursery to celebrate it. Same with all holidays from Chinese new year to Christmas etc. Their meals are always sounding and smelling lovely each time I came in for collection. We was always coming home with so many different things from art work made in class to things designed from actives for different celebrations. Like for mothers day we'd end up with a bag full of all types of things hes made for me. Or Christmas it was a bag with a gift for J.C. along with stuff he'd made for the Christmas tree, reindeer food etc. They also have tapestry which they upload a lot on of photos and videos of your child doing activities in the day as well which is always nice to see each time and offer a way for you to get a printed book of everything posted on the tapestry which we did once his graduation photos was posted. I could write endless things about playdays and how amazing they are as many other people have in these reviews

Since both of my children, aged 2 and 1 started play days nursery they’ve created beautiful relationships with all of the staff present. The support they offer not just as a nursery but as team is incredible. The reassurance I get knowing I can comfortably drop the children off, and attend work without a concern is immense. The children are now 4 and 3 so due to start attending a school setting soon and when that day comes we’ll be so upset to say our goodbyes. It really is home, from home.

Beautiful nursery, one of many that I viewed but I instantly fell in love with playdays the second we walked in. Special thanks to Jade J, Helen and Chloe who are all lovely and make my son feel safe and welcomed. They do so many activities and give such thoughtful gifts/crafts to the parents for every celebration you could think of! Would absolutely recommend this nursery setting❤️
