Playdays Nursery Monk Bretton is a small, independent early years setting located in Barnsley, offering childcare and educational development. The nursery focuses on supporting children during their formative years, preparing them for primary education through structured learning and social interaction.
While some parents value the personal atmosphere and individualised care, especially for children with additional needs such as Type 1 diabetes, others have raised concerns regarding organisation, cleanliness, and communication. The nursery aims to provide an inclusive environment, demonstrated by its wheelchair-accessible entrance and willingness to accommodate complex care requirements.
As an Ofsted-registered provider, Playdays Nursery adheres to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, promoting development in areas like communication, language, physical skills, and social-emotional growth. Prospective parents are encouraged to visit the nursery to personally assess the facilities, observe staff interactions, and determine if the daily routines and environment align with their expectations for their child's educational journey.

Inclusion & environment
Support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is excellent. Staff tailor activities and experiences so that all children are involved and included. Leaders have established close connections with other professionals who help them to support children with SEND. They develop and plan activities to meet the specific needs of children. As a result, all children make good progress from their starting points in development.
Children spend time outside each day. Staff tenderly care for toddlers. They follow children's interests and create sensory activities that excite and engage children. However, on occasions, they do not organise activities to ensure that all children can take part. For example, the area is cramped, limiting space for some children to become involved, causing them to wander between areas.
