Poplars Blossoms Nursery School, established in 2006, provides a nurturing and child-centred early learning environment for families in Sherwood, Woodthorpe, and Daybrook, Nottingham, and the surrounding areas. Grounded in the unique 'Poplars Approach,' the nursery focuses on fostering secure bonds between children and staff within small, bright rooms.
The curriculum emphasises hands-on learning through play, outdoor exploration, and a strong partnership with parents to support each child's individual progress. Poplars Blossoms aims to create a warm and homely atmosphere where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn, with a focus on emotional wellbeing and resilience.
The nursery serves children from a young age, preparing them gently for transition to The Willows Preschool when they are ready. They are currently accepting registrations for September 2025.
Our ethos
At Poplars Blossoms Nursery School, we believe that emotional wellbeing is a vital part of early development. Our gentle, home-from-home setting supports children in understanding and expressing their feelings at their own pace. We create a safe and secure environment through familiar routines, gentle voices, and warm, responsive care. We help children recognise and name their emotions through simple language, books, songs, stories, and visual prompts. We believe that trusted relationships with key staff build confidence and provide a secure base for children to explore and grow. Our everyday interactions aim to build resilience, showing children that all feelings are valid and manageable. We strive to create a caring and emotionally supportive environment where children can thrive.

Outdoor space
Staff support children to develop physically by modelling large movements, like stomping in the garden and moving their bodies in different ways. Children copy these actions, lifting their legs and balancing. Outside, children are not consistently told how to move around when holding large sticks or the potential impact of their actions on others.

We absolutely love this nursery. My daughter has come on so much since starting here, especially with her speech and communication. She began in pull-ups and is now confidently in big girl pants, which is a huge milestone for us. She has made lovely new friends and is always excited to go in. The girls in Maple Room are all fantastic, and my daughter truly adores every one of them. We feel so lucky to have found such a caring and supportive place.

A great nursery and with the refurbishment, the nursery is nice inside with plenty of space for each age group. All of the staff here are amazing, they go above and beyond with the children. Genuinely the best nursery staff I have met.

Our 2 year old attends this nursery and has done it since September last year. He loves it! It's one of his favourite places to go. He's made loads of friends, learnt lots of great stuff, and you can tell all of the nursery care about him. He is raised vegan, and they are really accommodating. He's also awaiting autism assessment, and the nursery has been amazing, giving us feedback about how his days go. I'm so glad we found Poplars.

Poplars Blossoms has been a safe and happy place for both my children. All the staff are very attentative and always give feedback at pick up. I have seen such a transformation in my children and loved how through their journey in Poplars Blossoms, they have grown in confidence, made friends and gained new skills.
