Sherwood Playgroup CIO, established in 1961, stands as one of Nottingham's longest-running playgroups, offering quality childcare and early years education for children aged two and above. Operating from a large, well-ventilated hall within the Sherwood Community Centre, the playgroup provides a stimulating environment with access to an enclosed outdoor play area.
The dedicated and experienced staff curate a wide range of high-quality resources, regularly updated to inspire and engage children's attention, fostering independence and extending learning through play. As a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, the playgroup's funds are managed by trustees and members, including parents and carers, ensuring a community-focused approach.
They also collaborate with Nottingham Trent University, providing mentoring and placement support to Early Years Initial Teacher Training Students. With a maximum of 26 children per session, Sherwood Playgroup offers a nurturing and happy environment for children to develop and learn.

Inclusion & environment
Staff and managers understand child development and how children learn. They use this knowledge to adapt the learning environment to support all children, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities or children who speak English as an additional language.
Outside, staff encourage children to climb in and out of tunnels, ride scooters and tricycles, spin around in spinning tops and run around. In the garden, when children kick large shiny balls, staff say, "good kicking."
