About this day nursery

The Daily Mile is a free and simple initiative encouraging children in primary schools and nurseries to engage in 15 minutes of outdoor physical activity, such as running, wheeling, or walking, at least three times a week during class time. This programme, founded in 2012 by Scottish headteacher Elaine Wyllie MBE, aims to combat the growing health crisis among children by promoting movement, improving physical fitness, enhancing focus, and boosting overall well-being.

The Daily Mile Foundation, a UK registered charity established in 2016 with support from INEOS, focuses on supporting educational institutions in embedding a culture of physical activity into daily routines. It emphasises inclusivity, ensuring all children, regardless of age, ability, or circumstances, can participate.

The approach removes common barriers like the need for special equipment or attire, making it easy to integrate into the school day. With over 20,000 schools and nurseries worldwide participating, the initiative has positively impacted over 5 million children, contributing to a healthier and more engaged generation.

Staff work closely with external professionals and agencies to ensure a clear and consistent approach to promoting children's care, education and well-being. Staff also guide parents through well-planned transitions to other settings, including school.

Outdoor space
