Princetown Community Preschool is an early learning centre nestled within the heart of Princetown Community Centre, a vibrant hub serving the village of Yelverton. The Community Centre, which houses the preschool, traces its origins back to its official opening in 2009 by HRH The Prince of Wales.
Initially conceived to be a single delivery point for a range of social, sporting, health, and welfare services, the building underwent extensive planning and market studies to ensure its optimal design for multi-activity use. Financial backing for the construction was provided by notable organisations such as Sport England, the Big Lottery Fund, Devon County Council, and Biffa.
In 2013, the Princetown Community Centre charity took over the lease and day-to-day operations, focusing on a community-oriented approach. Alongside the preschool, the centre is home to a Doctor's Surgery, a public Library, and facilities for local groups and clubs.
The charity, run entirely by volunteers, relies on hiring out parts of the building to cover operational costs, ensuring the continued provision of essential services like early years learning to the local and wider community. The centre also actively supports local businesses and trades, fostering a thriving environment.

Inclusion & environment
The manager ensures staff access training to improve their knowledge, which they share to be consistent, for example, to support younger children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and identify any gaps in children's learning. Staff work with other professionals to support children and their families.
Children have access to a range of learning which helps them to build confidence physically, such as balancing on wooden planks and learning to use stilts. Staff teach children to develop strength and confidence when walking on uneven ground so that they can enjoy moving around safely when they visit the moorland around the setting.
We play badminton here 3 times a week. Great building which isn't used to its full potential. The hall is big enough for 5 a side football , netball, badminton. A good size meeting room. Toilets. There's a library. The doctors surgery runs 3 clinics a week. From 8.45 until 9.45. It's a walk in surgery. Monday wed and Friday. There is also the village pre_school held here. You can hire the hall for £7an hour.

Read on GoogleThis is an interesting to find venue, kind of tucked away to the side of the Primary school. The hall is large and there's a side room. Wear a jumper and jacket, in cold weather. Useful space.

Read on GoogleI have always found the community centre a great asset for the village. Today I used the GP surgery which visit Mon, Wed+Fri. As a disabled person this local asset is indispensable and I have always received an outstanding medical service.
