Puddle Jumpers Nursery - Wapping, located in St. Peters Centre, Reardon Street, London, E1W 2QH, is a childcare setting on non-domestic premises that registered with Ofsted on 11/01/2024. The nursery is caring and nurturing, with staff prioritising children's emotional wellbeing and supporting their independence skills.
Children at Puddle Jumpers Nursery are happy and settled, benefiting from secure attachments with staff and effective settling-in procedures, including home visits. The nursery actively supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), working with external agencies and using additional funding to ensure children make appropriate progress.
While the nursery provides a stimulating environment with a range of resources and activities, including outdoor play and a mud kitchen, there are areas for development in consistently extending children's learning and ensuring staff have a clear understanding of curriculum intent.
Our ethos
At Puddle Jumpers we believe nursery is more than just childcare – it is the start of your child’s education, preparation for school and most importantly the foundation for a happy, healthy and successful life. We take inspiration from what we believe are the most relevant approaches to understanding how children think and learn, guided by Reggio Emilia we have created a neutral calm environment, filled with natural objects as a way to inspire the children’s fascination and wonder, providing time and space for them to revisit their interests until they are intrigued by something new. Inspired by the principles of Waldorf Steiner we encourage experiential learning, through the process of ‘making, doing, creating’.
What it's like
Children explore resources in the environment. However, staff do not consistently consider all opportunities to extend children's learning well across all areas of development. As a result, children do not build securely on what they already know and can do. This is because staff do not have a secure understanding of the curriculum intent. Staff interact positively with children, but they do not consistently support them to explain their ideas or widen their knowledge. Despite this, children generally show positive attitudes to their learning and engage well with the experiences available to them. Children are happy and settled, separating well from parents and carers due to a caring team of staff who embed professional relationships with children and families. Staff support children's wellbeing through effective settling-in procedures and robust key-person systems.

Inclusion & environment
Leaders and staff work with external agencies to plan and carry out support for children with SEND and those who face additional difficulties. Staff implement strategies from external professionals and adapt routines to meet children's individual needs. Leaders use additional funding to support children's experiences and reduce barriers to their learning. This is particularly beneficial for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
Children enjoy being outdoors and exploring the mud kitchen, where they pretend to mix potions in pans.
Our child joined puddle jumpers a month ago. The staff are friendly, welcoming and professional. We felt at ease there and gives you a feeling of community. The communication with us is great and all other kids seem happy and calm. The building is gorgeous with high ceilings, natural light and big windows. The kids enjoy a variety of activities and play outdoors almost every day, as long as the weather allows it.
Read on GoogleOur son started this nursery few weeks ago and settled in very quickly even though he usually needs quite some time. The teachers are very caring and considerate and speak different languages. The meals are great - nutritiously balanced and there is a big diversity of fruit and veg given for snacks. It really makes a difference. The nursery itself is in a beautiful building, all is brand new and spacious with lots of natural light. There is also a garden outside where children play everyday. Our son is very happy at this nursery and we are so grateful we found this wonderful place.
Read on GoogleMy child went to Puddle Jumpers since they opened earlier this year. Staffs and teachers are very considerate and caring. My child has learned a lot and I would highly recommend this nursery in the area.
