Quays Park Nursery & Preschool, located in Portishead, offers childcare for children aged 6 months to 5 years, with dedicated spaces for babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers. The nursery prides itself on its brand-new facilities, including a large adventure garden, and a dedicated team focused on supporting each child's development.
The Early Years Foundation Stage framework guides their provision, and staff are available to discuss activities and daily planning in detail. The nursery maintains competitive and all-inclusive fees, aiming for simplicity in its childcare services.
They offer full-day, morning, and afternoon sessions, which include all meals and snacks, adapting session pricing based on staff ratio requirements after a child turns three. They also offer early drop-off with breakfast and late pick-up with a snack on an ad-hoc basis.
The nursery is open year-round, stretching government funding to cover the full year rather than just term time, and prioritises siblings of current attendees with a discount.
What it's like
Staff use observations and assessments well to build an individualised curriculum that supports children's interests and next steps in learning successfully. Children love sharing books, such as 'Where's my Teddy?' They listen attentively and respond keenly to questions posed. Staff skilfully help older children to talk about their own teddy bears to help them make links with their own experiences. Children use mathematical language well to compare and describe the different-sized bears.
Fees are structured by age (Babies, Toddlers, and Pre-School) and reduce the month after a child turns three. Sessions are available as full days, mornings, or afternoons, with standard rates being all-inclusive. Fully funded sessions incur separate daily charges for meals and consumables.

Inclusion & environment
Staff support those children who need extra help to self- regulate well. They try and test strategies effectively to see which work best for individual children. This means beneficial support can be provided consistently to help children re-engage in their learning and build friendships.
Young children gain confidence in their movements. They find different ways to climb and descend the raised areas in the garden, under the watchful eye of staff. Children challenge themselves well, for example, to cross stepping stones and to climb the climbing frame.
