About this day nursery

Rainbow Stars Day Nursery, located in Thornton Heath, provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 3 months to 5 years. Situated in a pleasant residential area on Headcorn Road, the nursery is easily accessible, being close to bus stops for routes 60 and 109, and a short distance from Norbury station.

The nursery operates 50 weeks a year, closing only for bank holidays and during the Christmas and New Year period. They offer both full and half-day sessions, running from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The facilities include dedicated spaces for babies (3-18 months) and toddlers (18-36 months), as well as a pre-school room for 3-5 year olds, where a tailored curriculum prepares children for their transition to school, focusing on the EYFS seven areas of learning. The nursery also boasts a sensory room designed to provide calm and comfort, aiding children in self-regulation and focus.

A dining room promotes healthy eating habits with freshly prepared meals, and a quiet nap area ensures children get adequate rest. In addition to day nursery services, Rainbow Stars offers a wrap-around care service, including breakfast clubs, after-school care, and holiday schemes, providing engaging activities and support for school-aged children.

They also offer flexible funding options for various early years entitlements.

What it's like

Children confidently leave their parents as they settle into their chosen play. Staff gather information from parents, such as any additional languages children speak at home. This helps the multilingual staff team to plan individual settling-in sessions that are unique to the needs of the children. If children become a little upset, staff speak to children in their home languages. Overall, leaders and staff plan an ambitious curriculum to support children's development.
