Riding Mill Outdoor Preschool (RMOP) offers a stimulating, primarily outdoor learning environment for children aged 2-5 during term time, operating from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The preschool prides itself on its highly qualified staff who facilitate learning through play.
RMOP is a charity organisation and encourages donations to support its ongoing costs. They also offer "Scurries Wild" Forest School Club for school-aged children (Reception-Year 4).
The preschool follows the term dates of Broomhaugh C of E First School and emphasises the importance of children being dressed appropriately for the weather, bringing changes of clothes, wellington boots, and sun protection. RMOP accepts government funding for childcare and the Tax-Free Childcare scheme, demonstrating their commitment to supporting families with childcare costs.
They focus on outdoor education, ensuring children benefit from a natural setting for their development and play experiences.

Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
Parents say that they feel very well supported by the setting.
Inclusion & environment
Children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, are well supported. Staff produce in-depth support plans to help to ensure that children's individual needs are met and that children make good progress in their learning. They work very closely with schools, speech and language and other external agencies to provide children with any additional support they require.
Staff make good use of the natural outdoors as an exciting learning environment. For example, older children plan and construct a large tractor using tyres and crates. Younger children enjoy filling the watering can and relish pouring the water on the vegetables in the allotment.
