Riverside Playgroup, established in 2011 and located within the grounds of Cordeaux School in Louth, Lincolnshire, offers a welcoming and nurturing environment for children aged two to four. The playgroup operates independently from the school during term time, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
With a team of seven qualified childcare staff, Riverside Playgroup focuses on creating a happy and confident space where children are encouraged to explore and learn. The setting places importance on developing physical activity, early writing skills, and cultural awareness through engaging activities, both indoors and outdoors.
They effectively utilise additional funding to broaden children's experiences, including trips to local attractions like farm parks and the seaside, and provide funded early education for two, three, and four-year-olds.

Inclusion & environment
The special educational needs coordinator has a good knowledge of how to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. She makes referrals to other professionals and holds frequent meetings with parents to share information and discuss children's progress.
Outdoors, children develop their spatial awareness and physical skills by moving in and out of obstacles. They also learn new skills, such as flipping pancakes in a frying pan.
The playgroup staff have not fully considered how incorporating children's home languages will support language development for children who speak English as an additional language.
