Sandhurst Nursery School has been dedicated to providing high-quality early years education for children aged 2 to 5 since its establishment in 1994. The nursery prides itself on offering a nurturing, stimulating, and secure environment where every child can flourish.
In 2021, the nursery relocated to a new facility, enhancing its ability to deliver exceptional care and education. The team understands the importance of choosing the right nursery and strives to make the process easy by offering a safe, secure, and engaging atmosphere for play and learning.
Sandhurst Nursery School is committed to improving outcomes for each child, recognising their individuality, strengths, interests, and needs. By collaborating closely with parents and carers, the nursery fosters strong, supportive relationships to ensure children receive an optimal start in life.
Family involvement is central to the nursery's ethos, encouraging parents and carers to actively participate in nursery life, celebrate milestones, and create a vibrant community. This collaborative approach aims to cultivate confident, happy, and inquisitive learners, well-prepared for future challenges.
The nursery embraces a unique educational philosophy, blending the principles of the Forest School approach with the Curiosity Approach to create an immersive and individualised learning experience. This combination allows children to explore, question, and learn in ways that ignite a lifelong passion for discovery.
Our ethos
At our nursery, we are passionate about creating a truly immersive and individual learning experience for every child. By combining the principles of the Forest School approach with the Curiosity Approach, we provide an environment where children can explore, question and learn in ways that inspire a lifelong love of learning. Through Forest School, we place a strong emphasis on learning in the natural world, giving the children the freedom to explore and develop a deep appreciation for nature. Hands on experiential learning opportunities nurture independence, confidence and self-esteem as children discover the world around them at their own pace. Alongside this, the Curiosity Approach encourages children to follow their individual interests, devoting time and space to explore their unique passions. Set within our rich natural environment, this approach fuels curiosity, creativity and problem solving while providing sensory rich experiences that deepen the children’s understanding of the world. Together, these approaches ensure that every child is supported to grow into a confident, independent and enthusiastic lifelong learner.

Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
parents say that they can see the positive impact that attending the nursery has on their children's learning, particularly in their communication and confidence.
Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) receive good support from staff. Their development is clearly recorded and used, along with information from parents and other professionals, to seek and/or provide the additional support they need. For example, staff are all learning Makaton to support children's communication and language development.
The learning extends easily into the outdoor environment, where children enjoy building on their physical skills as they climb trees, play in the sand, and ride on bicycles and trikes. Children enjoy being outside in the fresh air daily and building their physical skills.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We are very happy with this kindergarten. The staff are kind and welcoming, and the director is truly excellent and supportive. The environment is engaging and well-equipped for both indoor and outdoor activities. We also really appreciate their flexibility in arranging the ideal days and hours for our child. Highly recommended!
