School House Nursery is a welcoming establishment that first opened its doors in 1992, dedicated to providing high-quality childcare and supporting the local community in Blackburn. The nursery aims to help children thrive emotionally, physically, and academically, preparing them to be happy, confident learners ready for school.
The team at School House Nursery focuses on fun-filled learning experiences, following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. They prioritise a stimulating indoor and outdoor environment, with play areas designed to be both educational and reflective of children's interests and learning topics.
The nursery places a strong emphasis on listening to each child's unique wants and needs to tailor their learning experiences. A standout feature is its Forest School learning experience, taking advantage of its location to explore nature both within the nursery grounds and further afield using a dedicated minibus.
Beyond core childcare, School House Nursery offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including swimming, dance, football, cookery, gymnastics, and educational trips. They pride themselves on offering flexible sessions to accommodate working parents and strive to make the transition from home to nursery an exciting and smooth process for both children and their families.

I was invited for a parent valentines stay and play with my son on Friday which was great fun and nice to see my little boy so happy at nursery with his friends and teachers. He’s been coming to school house for just over a year now and his speech has really come on as well as his confidence. A big thank you for the staff that have been supporting him on his journey at nursery 👍
Read on GoogleMy child attended this nursery as it felt safe when she started however as time went by, my child was a victim of children hurting her on 3 occasions, when addressed the management always used to the excuse of ‘it happened in a split second’ . On one occasion my child resulted in serious tissue damage on her face due to such severe injuries on her full face requiring medical care. I addressed with the nursery on many occasions but again same excuse ‘split second’. I found it very concerning that staff were unable to protect my child. This didn’t just happen to my child, it’s happened to many children and most of them parents had taken their child out (including myself). Very concerning safeguarding issues. I personally wouldn’t recommend this nursery; it looks amazing as they do extra curricular but in reality it wasn’t as amazing as it seemed on paper. Serious safeguarding issues and I definitely would NOT recommend this nursery.
Read on GoogleI had a very disappointing experience with this nursery. There was a complete lack of communication regarding my child’s needs. Despite repeatedly informing staff about feeding, I had to feed my child myself. Additionally, my child was put back in wet clothes, which is unacceptable. I expected much higher standards of care and attention
Read on GoogleThe environment and the staff are so amazing, my daughter really loved it there but had to take her out because we were moving house. I definitely recommend this nursery
