Safeguarding effective

What it's like to attend

Children are happy and well supported in this warm and welcoming setting. They enjoy a wide array of activities indoors and have access to large outdoor spaces for physical play. Children develop meaningful bonds with staff and peers, showing a willingness to learn and engage in activities.

Inspector highlights

  • Children's welfare and wellbeing are consistently prioritised, creating a nurturing, calm and predictable environment.
  • Staff actively promote children's independence, with clear progression in expectations across age groups.
  • Children behave well and play cooperatively, with staff responding swiftly and calmly to resolve minor disagreements.
  • All children enjoy a wide variety of activities that support all areas of the curriculum, with staff understanding individual stages of development and interests.
  • Leaders provide clear direction and ensure the setting runs smoothly with a consistent supervision system that supports staff development.
  • Children make steady progress from their starting points and are supported in building foundations for future learning.

Areas to develop

  • 1Leaders should further enhance opportunities for staff to gain more precise knowledge of targeted teaching skills to help them to support all children to learn and develop.
  • 2As teaching is not consistently targeted to individual children's needs they do not always make the progress they are capable of.
  • 3Staff are not always aware of the skills and attitudes that they are encouraging children to learn. This means that children are not always developing positive attitudes to learning as fully as they could be.
  • 4Staff weave a variety of learning through the activities, although this is not always planned and intentional. This means that children are not always learning as much as they could be.
  • 5Leaders have identified that staff would benefit from further training in how to adapt their practice more independently to meet children's individual needs.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff identify children's needs early through ongoing observation and assessment. They use this information to plan appropriate support that helps children with special educational needs and/or disabilities to make steady progress. Referrals are made promptly when further support is needed, and leaders work effectively with other professionals and use funding to support these children.

Outdoor space

Outdoors, children have access to large play spaces set up with activities that support their physical skills, for example bikes, climbing equipment and sand and water trays. Throughout the day, toddlers and pre-school children free flow between indoors and out, allowing them to choose the environment they are most comfortable in. Babies have a garden dedicated to them, which ensures their safety.

EAL / language support

Leaders work with parents to ensure that staff have a list of home language words for each child that speaks English as an additional language, which helps staff understand children when they are using these key words to communicate.

My child has repeatedly sustained injuries and staff are unable to tell us how he got them, they left our child in wet and dirty nappies and refused to keep it up when it came to the potty training, raised the concerns with management and was basically palmed off with the same excuses and nothing changed, the safe guarding is not acceptable and I highly recommend to all parents considering this nursery GO ELSEWHERE DO NOT USE THIS NURSERY!! I am filing these complaints to offsted because the nursery had no intentions on resolving the issues raised after multiple attempts raising concerns with the nursery management team.. mum witnessed our child getting kicked in the head, told the staff and rather then addressing the issue told another child to not climb on the apparatus but to wait their turn..
