About this day nursery

Seesaws Day Nurseries, established in 1994 by the Ackers family, is a group of five nurseries and three holiday clubs located across the West Midlands, with a core belief in placing children at the centre of all their activities. The founder, Lady Jayne Ackers, a former secondary school teacher in Child Development and Home Economics and a college tutor for Nursery Nurses, created Seesaws to offer a more personal and nurturing alternative to existing childcare options, inspired by her experiences adopting her children.

The nursery prides itself on fostering a supportive and collaborative environment, acting as a 'second-family' for both children and staff. Their approach is guided by key values; they are open-minded, listening to diverse ideas and experiences; attuned, being highly reactive to the behaviours and emotions of children, staff, and families; collaborative, emphasising teamwork and mutual support; and tenacious, demonstrating determination and perseverance.

This family-centred ethos and commitment to individual growth and well-being are central to the Seesaws' way of operating.

SEND provision

There is scope to develop further methods for children who need additional support and are not yet verbal to communicate their needs and wants with peers and staff. The provider should build further on methods to enable children who are in need of additional support to develop their communication skills with others so that they make the most progress they are capable of.

Outdoor space

Older children use their imagination in the garden, for example, by acting out scenes from a familiar story with a member of staff. Children practise their large-muscle skills and coordination by using swings and slides, running in larger spaces, and using a range of wheeled toys.

My daughter has been attending this setting for 3 years and loves it, we have always found the staff to be caring, professional and supportive not only towards our daughter but also us. The setting itself is warm and welcoming each room has been well thought out to benefit the children as they progress through the years. The facilities available to the children we have found to be well above what we had seen previously when viewing nurseries. Sadly my daughters time with seesaws penn is drawing to a close but we have loved this nursery so much we are currently in the process of working out a way to ensure our son can attend next year, we live a distance away but the care love and support we as a family have recieved from seesaws penn is worth the travel.

My grandson attends this nursery and has been extremely happy from the start. Never had a problem with them and couldn't ask for better people to look after him. Would 100% recommend this nursery to anybody. The staff are so lovely and caring my grandson talks about how he has had a fun day everytime I pick him up.

Picked up my kid his hands dirty his nose running and face covered from runny nose I called nursery numerous times and never answer. Not answering phone when you worried about your child this place and staff do not care so AVOID IF YOU care about your kids
