Outdoor space
The nursery has introduced a growing area outdoors for children who live in premises without a garden. Children also show excitement discovering spiders in the garden, which staff use to extend learning by providing magnifying glasses and linking the experience to mathematics.
EAL / language support
Most children who enter the nursery at age two speak English as an additional language. Bilingual staff provide excellent opportunities for children to use their home language in play and learning, resulting in children speaking English extremely well by age three, using grammatically correct sentences, and engaging in attentive listening and relevant questioning.
