Smarties Nursery and Pre-school in Wirral offers a nurturing, home-from-home environment where children feel secure while parents are at work. The nursery's approach integrates modern child development theories with practical learning, fostering curiosity and independence.

Experienced and qualified staff, including an Early Years Teacher and former Ofsted Inspector, lead the team, ensuring high standards of care and education. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), utilising 'Projects and Learning Stories' to extend children's skills and promote sustained shared thinking, preparing them for primary school.

The nursery prioritises safety and security with DBS-checked staff, paediatric first aid and safeguarding training, CCTV, and a secure door entry system.

They also encourage parental involvement and provide detailed progress updates to families.

Our ethos

Smarties Nursery is a ‘small and cosy, home from home’ style of childcare setting. We try to replicate a typical local home so children feel safe and secure whilst you are out at work. Qualified and experienced staff ensure their teaching methods are adapted for different situations and scaffold children’s learning; and sustained shared thinking extends children’s critical thinking skills, so they develop skills they will need when they start primary school. Key Persons ensure that each child is safe, secure and nurtured and that teaching is tailored to their interests and style of learning.

Both of my children attend Smarties and I am so pleased, as are they! The staff are both engaging and supportive. My son can often find transitioning hard and the team at Smarties have always been so helpful; working with us to ensure he is happy and joining in. They are continuously thinking up new ways to educated and entertain the kids and it is clear that the team are passionate about what they do. We very much recommend Smarties

Our children both attend Smarties one for the walking bus having previously been at the nursery/pre school and the other is in the caterpillar room. Throughout this time staff have been consistently excellent, always friendly, professional and positive. The children seem to be given lots of opportunity to learn and do lots of different activities. Most importantly for me they are very happy to clearly enjoy their time there. Parents are well informed by updates at the end of the day and information and pictures on the online journal. We are definitely very happy with the service and certainly plan to continue for the foreseeable future.
