Springfield Nursery Ltd, located on Springfield Farm in Marwood near Barnstaple, opened its doors in 2002 and was re-registered as a limited company in 2012. Operating from 7:45 am to 6 pm every weekday, all year round, the nursery prides itself on its strong connection to nature and the outdoors.

Children regularly visit the adjacent farm, observing animals like cows and pigs, and watching farm workers with tractors through child-height windows. This unique environment allows children of all ages to learn about farm animals, their diets, and even the wool production process.

The nursery emphasises independence, with staff supporting younger children in dressing for outdoor play and older children managing their own outdoor clothing. Pre-schoolers engage in collaborative tasks like replenishing the sandpit, fostering teamwork, coordination, and strength.

The nursery maintains a high staff morale, with providers supporting continuous professional development and reflective practices among their 46 team members.
