What it's like to attend

• Before children start attending the nursery, staff visit them in their homes, promoting children's emotional well-being.
• Children in the baby room show positive relationships with staff, smiling at staff when they play peekaboo games.
• Children in the toddler room are supported by staff to share when they play with toys, using words such as 'first' and 'next'.
• Children learn to keep themselves safe, including taking part in lockdown drills.
• Children are keen to engage in learning through play, developing hand-eye coordination and muscles in their hands.
• The manager and staff place a focus on supporting children's speaking skills, using repetitive words in the baby room and introducing new words in pre-school.
• Staff share information with parents about their children's learning, and parents are invited to workshops on diet, safety, first aid and cooking healthy meals.
• Staff support children to learn skills for school, encouraging independence and self-care skills such as dressing and serving themselves food at lunchtime.
• The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with an open and positive culture that puts children's interests first.
