St Josephs Pre School Nursery received a "Good" rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 31st January 2024. Leaders and staff foster a positive and caring environment where children quickly become familiar with routines and develop a positive attitude to play and learning.
The curriculum focuses on developing children's personal, physical, and communication skills, preparing them well for their onward education. All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make good progress.
The dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) works closely with parents to create tailored learning plans when developmental gaps are identified, ensuring individual needs are met. Children have access to a large outdoor area, where staff encourage physical activities like running, jumping, and cycling.
The nursery also helps children learn about the wider world and different cultures through various activities and visits to local places such as libraries and schools.

Inclusion & environment
All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, learn new knowledge, skills and behaviours at a good rate. If gaps in development are identified, staff consult with parents and carers and the special educational needs coordinator (SENCo). Together, they plan a programme of learning that focuses on each child's individual needs, which is quickly implemented and reviewed regularly to ensure all children make progress in their development.
Children enjoy the time they spend in the large outdoor area. Staff encourage children to develop physical skills such as running, jumping, and pedalling, which helps children to be physically active.
