Pricing & funding

This nursery offers childcare through full-day and half-day sessions. They accept 15 and 30 hours of government funding, though funded sessions are subject to a consumables charge that varies depending on the child's age and session type.

  • Partnership with parents is very good. Staff offer their expertise to parents to help them expand their children's knowledge and understanding.
  • Staff encourage children to count and recognise amounts and quantities through their play. Children confidently use number, shape and measurement in their play.
  • Staff know children well and assess their development accurately. They join in with children's play successfully to support, extend and guide their learning.
  • Staff support children to develop good communication skills. Children communicate with confidence and share their thoughts and ideas in play.
  • The manager ensures that staff are supported well through robust supervision sessions and closely monitors the good-quality care and teaching provided.

The manager and staff work in partnership with other professionals to help children to reach their full potential, especially children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Outdoor space

Older children explore and investigate inside the wonderful 'sand room'. They use their physical skills to dig and move the sand around. Children experience the sensory feel of the sand by burying their toes into it and pouring it through their fingers.

Honestly love this nursery so much! You’re always greeted with a smile from every member of staff….My daughter is nearly 2 and honestly loves going to nursery! They go out in the pram every day which is just the cutest thing ever and so important to us! Thank you Bex, Hannah and everyone else at Starchild ⭐️

A fabulous nursery where both my children have loved going. They get out and about and explore Malton, visiting the market is a real highlight! Lovely staff and a lovely environment.
