What it's like to attend

  • The manager has continued to develop the curriculum, welcoming support from the local authority. There is an interesting and ambitious curriculum for all children.
  • There are many opportunities for children to develop their independence.
  • Staff promote children's physical skills well. For example, older children learn to take measured risks when they climb the tree.
  • Staff are skilled at including all children during story time. Even the youngest children are encouraged to think and predict what comes next.
  • Successful partnerships are formed with parents. Overall, parents are complimentary about the setting.

There are secure arrangements in place to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.

Outdoor space

Children enjoy making sandcastles in the large outdoor sandpit and creating in the mud kitchen. They also pretend to mend the climbing frame with their construction tools. Older children learn to take measured risks when they climb the tree, and younger children practise balancing on stepping stones.

My daughter started in January and has come along leaps and bounds since starting. She has developed a lovely bond with her peers and staff & looks forward to her 'school days'. The manageress Emma looked after her elder brother and he thrived, so it was a no brainer his sibling attended her setting.

Our daughter attended Stepping Out for about a year, she made lots of friends and thoroughly enjoyed her time here, the staff are friendly and dedicated to the development of the children in their care.
