How they support every child

Staff work closely with parents and other agencies to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They work towards targets set for children, sharing progress with parents and external agencies, and adapt mealtimes and activities to ensure children's dietary and additional needs are met.

Outdoor space

Staff do not provide enough challenge for all children when playing outside. Although some activities are planned, there is not enough challenge in other activities to continue children's learning afterwards. Inspectors observed the quality of activities and curriculum in the outdoor play areas.

We couldn't be happier to send our child to The Butterfly Patch, South Norwood. The staff are fantastic and communicate really well with us. Our child is really happy there which means the world to us. They have a strong focus on development which we really value. They have a brilliant app so we get updates every day which are always great to receive. We'd highly recommend to any other parents.

Since starting at the Butterfly Patch, my son has developed confidence and social skills. He used to be very nervous about being separated from me, and also about joining in with new children. However, with the kind and gentle approach taken by the staff, my son now looks forward to going to each session and talks non stop about the friends he has made. There are plenty of updates via the app about what the children are learning, so I know there are always a wide range of tasks planned. Along side this, the staff respond to the interests of the children and current events/weather. On a particularly hot day, they got the paddling pool out- which my son absolutely loved.

I can't recommend Butterfly Patch, Norman House enough. All the practioners are warm & friendly, recognising each parent & child straight away. My son's development has gone from strength to strength in the Glittering Glowbugs room. He loves his time there & is a happy boy at every pick up. As parents we really appreciate the updates though the app & at collection. I've seen a real growth in his confidence expecially at being separated from me. Thanks to all involved in caring for him!

Our son has been in the nursery for a year now and can say nursery is a safe haven for our son. Sonia and the staff take such good care of our son and are always on top of everything. The premises are super clean and thier activities are meticulously planned every day with daily updates on their app. They are promt on responding and ensure parents are given the assurance they need , sometimes mutiple times. The staff is professional and warm at the same time which is a rare thing to find. They also discuss and share children’s development milestones and hold parent meetings to discuss all key milestones. We are extremely happy and feel lucky to have butterfly patch near our home as wouldn’t think of any other nursery after experiencing such class service.
