About this day nursery

Sticky Fingers Pre-School, located in Templecombe, has been offering pre-school education for over 30 years to children from two years old up to school admission age. In April 2008, the pre-school relocated to a purpose-built classroom on the school grounds of Abbas & Templecombe Primary School.

This new facility features child-height wash basins, low surface breakfast bars for interactive snack preparation and cookery activities, and low-level windows to allow children to observe the outside world. This design creates a warm, safe, and fun 'home from home' atmosphere, encouraging children to 'play2learn'.

The co-location with the primary school fosters strong links, ensuring a smooth transition for children into school life. Pre-schoolers gradually become familiar with their reception class teacher and the new learning environment through induction sessions held in the summer term, preparing them for their entry into school in September.

Inclusion & environment

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff remain focused on supporting all children to develop their social skills and help to ensure their emotional well-being. This has been particularly important for children who have had limited social experiences due to the pandemic.

Outdoor space

Children thoroughly enjoy exploring the forest school area, where they hunt for bugs. They learn how woodlice like to live in damp, dark places and can be found hiding under stones and logs. They use their imagination as they pretend to be pirates, using spades as oars as they sail in their boat in search of treasure. Children enjoy riding wheeled toys and negotiating pathways successfully in the garden.
