Inclusion & environment
Staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) effectively, working with external professionals and implementing strategies to help children make progress. For children with limited speech, staff use photos of objects to help them communicate their needs.
Toddlers and babies are resilient and take age-appropriate risks while they play outside. Staff help to strengthen their mobility, with children climbing, holding hands with staff, and jumping off.
My little boy has struggled socialising for a very long time due to me personally have anxiety and not leaving the house. I got advised by a health professional that I needed to enrol my son into a pre school as he was also going through an autism assessment for being non verbal so I got a few good recommendations for Sunflowers in Courtney Park. So he had a bit of a shaky start and so did I but he became comfortable after a few months in and the workers were so great and very very patient with my son so that made me feel comfortable to leave him there. He was only there for about 5-6 months but the time and care that got given to my son is the small space of time was incredible. The ladies that worked with him brought him right out of his shell and the work they put into helping getting the diagnosis for Autism which he has been granted was deeply appreciated. He is now talking more than he was (not perfect but getting there) and he is so much more sociable its crazy to think he was the same little boy back in September when he started. I just can't thank Sunflowers enough for what they have done for our family and my son so would highly recommend.
Read on GoogleMy daughter started at Sunflower Day Nursery at Courtenay Park January of this year at 9 months old and I was quickly very impressed with our caring all of the staff are and in tune with the different needs of each child. What impressed me the most was the amount of settling in sessions we had before my daughter was due to officially start, making her first day much easier for us both! All of the staff are incredibly helpful, caring and nurturing towards all of the children and are so good at keeping parents in the loop with all communications. I have confidently recommended this nursery to my friends and am so pleased with the decision I made! Thank you to all staff who help to look after my daughter.
Read on GoogleMy Son has attended Sunflowers for the last 2 and a half years and has absolutely loved his time here. From day one they made all of us feel comfortable and welcomed. All the staff are friendly and professional. Communication has always been great and we couldn’t ask for more. My Son will really miss Sunflowers and the team once he starts school in September.
Read on GoogleSuper disappointed. From what started as a really exciting new adventure for my little one ended with a lot of disappointment. Sunflower Day nursery were so accomonating and quick to give my little boy a space. From the beginning I knew this would be a hard transition as he has only really spent time with me since birth and he is now 15months. 1st settle we went went on, they have some soft play blocks which is great to encourage movement, climbing and motor skills however with no rug or mat underneath the amount of head bumps I wit ess over my 2 settle slots was quite high. Again having 15 years experience in childcare settings I completely understand children will have bumps but I do feel when there is a simple hazard we can stop why not do it especially when it involves hitting there heads at a young age. But again this is my thoughts and opinion. 2nd settle, I stayed 30minutes then left. When coming to pick him up I expected to hear tears but what I didn't expect was him to be sat there with a Teddy. No staff member trying to interact, play, bond, sing to him with other children NOTHING. After picking him up he was burning up I checked his temperature in the car and it was 38.9 (how did no one realise) he was also not offered any of his snacks or drink and when we got home the boy ate so much. Really disappointed and sad that this is how it went. Of course this is just 1 experience out of many and maybe it was just had luck but it's really upsetting.
Read on GoogleMy son loves this childcare setting. He has additional needs, and they are always accommodating for him. They have helped support his development and said care skills which are transferring to home and I see progress in him every day. The staff are all lovely, and always willing to listen and talk to you about your child. All the staff know him, and he always leaves nursery beaming at the end of the day!
