Sunrise Nursery School, established in 1998 and located in the grounds of Kingsdown School, is dedicated to fostering a welcoming, stimulating, and joyful environment where children can thrive through play. The nursery aims to enhance children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development, promoting positive attitudes and respect for themselves and others.
Offering sessions for children aged 0-5, the nursery divides its care into three distinct rooms: one for infants aged 0-2 years, another for toddlers aged 2-3 years, and a pre-school room for children aged 3-5 years. The nursery uses the FAMLY app to facilitate communication between parents and staff, providing real-time updates, access to information, and streamlining administrative tasks such as invoicing, reporting sickness, and updating permissions.
Sunrise Nursery School is open Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 6 pm, for 50 weeks of the year. They also accept various government funding entitlements to support families.

Verbatim quotes recorded in the Ofsted inspection
Parents praise the dedicated manager and her team for their continued support and guidance. Their children come home happy and excited to tell them about their day.
Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) make good progress in their learning. The manager and staff make effective use of additional funding to provide appropriate support and resources for individual children. Staff work closely with other professionals and parents to create strategies to help children access the curriculum and make progress in their learning.
All children participate in physical play. Staff encourage children to listen and follow simple instructions, and children dance and move their bodies to music and nursery rhymes, which supports their overall health and well-being.
I did not want to go back to work and I did not want to leave my child after maternity leave but the team at Sunrise, especially the key carer for my baby, made returning to work much easier than I thought it would be. Thank you so much the for great care and making a hard situation much easier! I wish I could go here myself :)
