The nursery, which has a Good Ofsted rating from its inspection on 7 March 2022, creates an inclusive, family-oriented environment where children happily settle into well-established routines and build strong bonds with staff. Children benefit from an effective balance of enjoyable adult-led activities and child-initiated play, fostering their sense of belonging and self-esteem through abundant encouragement and praise.
All children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make good progress from their starting points. The well-resourced outdoor classroom offers numerous opportunities for exploration and curious learning.
Children engage in imaginative role play and staff effectively extend their understanding of the world, including through growing and harvesting fruit and vegetables. This helps children understand where their food comes from and expands their knowledge of growth.
Staff are sensitive to children's needs, providing a calming and nurturing environment especially for babies. The nursery also promotes healthy habits, such as handwashing and provides nutritious home-cooked meals.
Sunshine Day Nursery establishes strong links with local schools, inviting teachers to visit children before they start school to ensure smooth transitions. Staff are dedicated and passionate about achieving high standards of care and learning while fostering an inclusive and family-oriented ethos.
