The Avenues Montessori is a day nursery in Margate, Kent, providing care for children from birth to four years old. It is open all year round, from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. The setting offers government-funded childcare places for eligible children from the age of nine months. At its inspection in March 2023, Ofsted judged the nursery to be 'Good' overall. The inspector reported that children are happy, settled, and enthusiastic to learn.
According to Ofsted, the curriculum is well planned, and staff effectively support children's early literacy skills. The report noted that staff have a good knowledge of the individual needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and provide targeted support. In the garden area, children were observed building a tent and using a climbing frame. The inspector recommended that the organisation of lunchtime and sleep routines be reviewed to ensure children do not have to wait unnecessarily.

Inclusion & environment
Leaders and staff have a good knowledge of the individual needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They provide effective, targeted support to ensure their safety and to help them make good progress. Funding is well spent on resources and memberships to support children's emotional well-being and gross motor skills. Staff know children's individual likes and dislikes and work well to minimise any potential upset for children with SEND.
Older children join in activities and support their friends to problem-solve, such as when building a tent in the garden. Younger children improve their physical development as they confidently run around a climbing frame, playing peekaboo with staff, and laugh as they chase bubbles in the garden.
This nursery is an absolutely exceptional place for children to grow, learn and feel truly valued. From the moment you walk through the door, it’s clear how much care, thought and love goes into everything they do. The leadership from Zoe and Jodie is outstanding. They run the nursery with such professionalism and heart, creating a calm, supportive environment where children and staff alike thrive. Their commitment to high standards is evident in every detail. My child’s keyworker, Faye, has been incredible. She has taken the time to really understand my child as an individual – their routines, interests and emotions – and that personal connection makes all the difference. The wider staff team are all fantastic and consistently nurturing. The Montessori approach and experienced teachers support independence, confidence and strong foundations for school readiness. With nutritious meals provided and such thoughtful attention to every child’s needs, this nursery offers complete peace of mind. My child is happy, confident and flourishing here, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to any parent.

The staff are caring, approachable, and work so well together to create a welcoming environment for children, their families, and each other. There’s a strong sense of teamwork and dedication every day, making it a safe, nurturing, and engaging space where children can grow in confidence and develop at their own pace. It’s a wonderful place for children to learn and thrive, and the team’s commitment shines through in everything they do.
Read on GoogleBoth of my children attended this nursery, one of which is still here. This is an amazing nursery that both my children adore and my youngest loves the days that he attends. They do plenty of activities and whenever I pick him up he always appears to be in the middle of something of fun. Can't recommend this nursery enough. All of the staff are very welcoming and professional and I wouldn't send my children anywhere else.
Read on GoogleMy son has been attending nursery for 2.5 years and my daughter has recently just joined. The nursery itself is always bright and clean with so many different engaging tough trays and activities laid out for the children to interact with. The staff are there to welcome you at the door and are very friendly and helpful. My son always comes home and tells us about his fun day, and we can’t wait for our daughter to do the same.
Read on GoogleMy son has attended for the last 18 months and I have nothing but positive things to say about The Avenues nursery. The staff are lovely, genuine and so clearly really care for the children. They put so much effort into making the nursery a lovely, educational and exciting place for their students and are constantly introducing new resources and activities. In the run up to starting school they’ve done a great job of nurturing independence and helping develop the skills that will set them up so well for school. The relationships my son has built with the teachers, support staff and students are a testament to the lovely culture of the nursery has established. I would highly recommended The Avenues.
