Opening hours
8am to 6pm, throughout most of the year
The Gardens Day Care and Nursery School, established in 2012, provides a welcoming and engaging environment for children aged 0 to 4 years. Open from 8am to 6pm throughout most of the year, this all-year setting received a "Good" rating in its latest Ofsted inspection on 2 February 2023.
The curriculum is designed with a clear learning intent, ensuring staff understand and plan what they want children to learn, preparing them well for their next stage of education. Staff have high expectations for all children, who actively explore a wide range of activities, using their imagination and selecting their own resources.
For instance, pre-school children have been observed happily boarding a train they created, making tickets and snacks, and fixing it with toy tools, showcasing their motivation to learn. The nursery strongly supports children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND); managers and staff collaborate to identify those needing additional support, communicating effectively with parents and liaising with external agencies to provide targeted assistance.
Children benefit from extensive outdoor learning opportunities, including digging in the sandpit and balancing on beams, which helps them develop physical strength. Furthermore, children are supported in understanding the world around them through visits to local attractions and community engagement, such as delivering donations to a local food bank.
Care practices are effective, with babies enjoying flexible routines that promote a sense of security. Parents have expressed satisfaction with the care their children receive, highlighting the strong bonds between staff and children, and appreciating the "settle sessions" that facilitate communication about their children's experiences.

Such a lovely team of staff at the Gardens- the whole team have made the settling in process for our 2 year old son a lot easier and less stressful than we thought it would be and we can’t wait to watch him flourish there! The friendly and caring staff, the range of daily activities, snacks, organic food menus, rooftop garden and turtle pond are just a few of the things that make this place so very special. We are so pleased with the choice we made to send our toddler here and cannot recommend this nursery enough!
Read on GoogleWe were recommended The Gardens Nursery when we moved to the area and are so thankful. From the rooftop garden to the nursery pet turtles, passionate staff, great curriculum and extra-curricular activities the nursery is full of imagination and wonder for young minds. Our son is so excited to go to school each morning and over the last two years The Gardens team feel like an extension of our family. Couldn’t recommend them more!
Read on GoogleGardens is such a wonderful place for little ones to develop and grow into confident, happy and fun individuals. The staff are so reliable, professional and friendly. We are very pleased with the super mix of educational fun activities that have evolved as our son has moved through the various stages - first starting at 9months and now a very happy 3 year old - including regular trips to the local park, library visits and even a trip to an activity farm during nursery hours. An added bonus is that the food is all prepared on site with fresh and organic ingredients. Thank you to the Gardens Team.
Read on GoogleMy son had three wonderful years at The Gardens! I can’t praise Sarah and her fabulous team enough: it is a happy and welcoming environment where children can play, learn and have lots of fun. The food is amazing and each child is encouraged to flourish by the nurturing staff and broad range of activities they offer. It is the best nursery in the area (in my opinion!) The attention to detail in everything from the menus to the fantastic roof garden, the parent/key worker relationships to the beautiful ‘look’ of the nursery itself is seamless. I also loved my time working part time with all the incredible team at the nursery so can highly recommend as a parent and staff member!

Highly recommended!
