The Home Nursery, established in 2013, is a family-operated childcare provider offering high-quality services year-round. Children progress through the nursery in their annual age groups, ensuring smooth transitions and consistent learning. The dedicated team of nursery nurses are qualified or working towards their Early Years qualification, hold current paediatric First Aid certificates, and implement the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

The nursery welcomes children aged from 6 weeks to 11 years, providing a varied curriculum and activities tailored to individual needs and cultural backgrounds. What it's like to attend

Inspector highlights

  • The manager and provider support staff's professional development through training courses to extend knowledge of implementing a curriculum for communication and language.
  • The manager, provider and staff reflect on experiences they offer children, using smaller rooms for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities when they need quiet times or to be physically active.
  • Staff provide children with their own toothbrushes and help them to learn how to clean their teeth, contributing to oral hygiene.
  • Staff and the nursery cook offer children healthy meals, and children develop their knowledge of how food grows by helping to plant and grow potatoes in the garden.
  • Staff in the pre-school room support the language skills of children who speak English as an additional language well, with multilingual staff speaking to children in their home language and English.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Recent improvements include staff using smaller rooms in the nursery to take children to meet their individual needs. For example, these rooms are used for staff to take children with special educational needs and/or disabilities when they need quiet times or to be physically active.

Outdoor space

Children show excitement to play team games. For example, pre-school children smile with staff and their peers when they are asked by staff to take it in turns to count while their peers hide from them in the garden. Children crouch behind apparatus and excitedly anticipate when they will be found. The inspector observed the quality of education during activities, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact this has on children's learning.
