About this day nursery

The Little Ripley Day Nursery, a family-run establishment founded in 1988, operates fifteen nurseries across Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, Great Barr, and Kingstanding. The day nursery prides itself on fostering a happy, safe, and nurturing environment where children can relax and thrive within a home-like setting.

Each nursery features bright, comfortable rooms equipped with age-appropriate games, toys, and activities, alongside spacious outdoor gardens and play areas. Prioritising the well-being and safety of the children, the nursery also focuses on creating opportunities for learning and development, adhering to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework.

This framework guides their teaching and learning, ensuring children from babies to pre-schoolers develop holistically, with a strong emphasis on imaginative play and child-initiated activities. The dedicated and experienced staff, many of whom have long tenures, provide consistent care and support, aiming for every child to feel cherished and respected.

The nursery also offers specialised sessions in French, cooking, and music, with some locations providing football coaching for a small additional charge. The nursery believes in social and happy mealtimes, providing wholesome, nutritious meals prepared fresh daily by dedicated cooks, catering to various dietary needs and introducing diverse cultural foods.

Milk feeds and weaning foods for babies are also provided.

Our ethos

At Little Ripley Day Nursery our aim is to provide a happy, safe and caring environment in which the children are relaxed and can thrive. Whilst the well-being and safety of the children in our care is our priority, we are also very mindful of the need to create an environment in which opportunities are provided that allow each child to learn, develop and reach their true potential. For this we follow the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which provides the guidance that supports the learning and development of our children. We believe that mealtimes should be social, happy times and we place importance on giving our children wholesome, nutritious snacks and meals.

Staff respond quickly and sensitively to their needs, meaning these children get rapid access to support and make good progress.

Outdoor space

All the children enjoy daily access to the well-resourced garden. Babies wear all-weather suits so they can use the garden even if the ground is wet. Children build on their physical skills by kicking balls, balancing on obstacles and climbing on the large wooden frame.

We can’t fault the nursery, they’ve given my son the best start in life. He adores the staff here and we have already been back twice to see them. The staff are friendly and professional, and have supported me when we gave up the dummy and potty trained to ensure a consistent approach. We already signed up baby no 2.

They have nurtured my daughter like she is one of their own and she has grown to love them, the standard of education she has received has been superb she starts reception this year and has a fantastic advantage with her level of knowledge. The nursery manager and the team there are very good at communicating with the parents and always make time to listen. I couldn’t ask for a better nursery to support my son. Being non verbal, still in nappies and having global delay and pica while waiting to be diagnosed with autism. Jess and the girls have been brilliant with him Helping me with his EHCP making sure he has everything he needs and never left out . His key worker anisha has been amazing, my younger son started when he was 1 and has another 2 years here . Outside space is ideal, both boys love the food and lots of space in all the rooms. Communication is really good too .

This nursery is phenomenal. My son started 3 years ago and was very shy he is now a different child because of the love and care provided by all staff members. The manager has always been delightful and kept me at ease, the communication by all staff members has been incredibly informative and helpful. I am truly going to be sad to leave the branch, but would like to thank all staff members for all their hard work!
