About this day nursery

The Meadows is a day nursery in Liversedge for children aged from one to four years. It is open all year round, Monday to Friday, with sessions running from 7.30am to 5.30pm. The day nursery accepts government funding for eligible two, three and four-year-olds. In its inspection of May 2024, Ofsted rated the nursery 'Good' overall.

The inspector found that the experienced staff team creates a safe and friendly environment where children feel emotionally secure. Leaders have created a curriculum focused on the seven areas of learning, with staff planning a range of interesting activities. There is a strong focus on physical activity, with children using an outdoor obstacle course and garden. The setting works with other professionals to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Parents told the inspector they were very complimentary about the staff.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Ongoing assessments of development highlight any gaps or delays effectively. Plans are implemented swiftly to ensure the provision is both safe and inclusive for all children. Staff work with other professionals and adopt strategies to ensure that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), make the best possible progress. The special educational needs coordinator spoke to the inspector about how they support children with SEND.

Outdoor space

There is a strong focus on physical activity across the nursery. Children balance on the obstacle course and use tweezers to pick up and move pom-poms. Children re-enact 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' as they tiptoe quietly around the garden so they do not wake the 'bear'.
