The Park Nursery, located in the heart of Halstead within a Grade II listed building next to the old mill, offers quality term-time care for children from 6 months up to rising 5 years old. Having relocated from Sible Hedingham in February 2024, this privately run setting prides itself on its dedicated staff who are passionate about natural, open-ended learning experiences.

Our staff are passionate about natural open-ended learning, we base our environment and learning around the children and their interests, providing continuous opportunities to be curious, creative and excited about the world around them.

What it's like

Children arrive with enthusiasm and excitement, warmly greeted by happy, nurturing staff, and settle quickly into chosen activities. They feel welcome and secure, with attentive staff knowing them well and respecting individual routines, enabling even the youngest children to sleep peacefully in a cosy sleep room. Children are familiar with daily routines and happily respond to staff's instructions, supported by an effective key-person system that ensures confidence and emotional security during transitions.

Pricing & funding

The nursery charges a consumable fee of £1.50 per 3-hour session. Fees are invoiced monthly and are due regardless of attendance, covering sickness, holidays, and bank holidays. Late payments incur additional charges. The consumable fee covers snacks and learning resources; families can opt-out but must provide their own.

  • Fees are payable regardless of a child's attendance, including for sickness, training days, outings, unforeseen weather, holidays, and bank holidays.

  • A consumable charge of £1.50 per 3-hour session covers healthy snacks, learning resources, and activities like Forest School and baking.
  • Families can opt-out of the consumable charge, but must then provide all snacks and resources for enhanced provision experiences.
  • The nursery reserves the right to revise its model and full-day offerings if it becomes financially untenable.

SEND provision

Leaders ensure staff are highly effective in supporting children with SEND, working closely with parents and external professionals.

Outdoor space

Children delight in their time outdoors in the fresh air, where they have opportunities to develop physical skills, enjoy sand and water play, and learn mathematical concepts. Children are taught to stay safe outdoors during outings in the local community.

Both my children have attended Park Pre-School, my youngest is now 3 and loves coming here. Heidi, Denise and the team work hard to help build confidence and foster independence and fun learning. Park is without doubt the best Pre-School in the Halstead area. It is a warm and friendly environment that allows the children to play, experiment and learn. I can't recommend it enough.
