The Rocking Horse Childcare Centre, established in 2004, is a childcare setting for children aged 0-4 years, operating all year round from Monday to Friday, 8am until 6pm. The nursery provides a warm and welcoming environment where children build strong relationships with staff, helping them to feel safe and secure.
The curriculum covers all areas of learning, preparing children well for school. Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) thrive, supported by a proactive deputy manager who liaises with families and professionals.
Staff receive additional training to implement strategies for speech and language development, with a designated language lead providing extra support for children who need it. Outdoor learning is encouraged, with children enjoying activities such as digging in the sand tray, manoeuvring ride-on cars, and building obstacle courses that develop their coordination.
The nursery also promotes a love of reading, with comfortable areas for children to relax with books and a library for families to borrow from, supporting early literacy skills. The baby room is a particular strength, with staff having specific training in bottle feeding and sleeping, ensuring babies' unique needs are consistently met and strong attachments are formed.

Inclusion & environment
Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) thrive in this setting. The deputy manager coordinates the provision for children with SEND, liaising closely with families and other professionals. Staff are proactive in accessing early help and swiftly address any gaps in children's learning to help them make the best possible progress. Staff have attended additional training so that they can implement strategies to support the development of children's speech and language. There is a designated language lead in the nursery, who is deployed effectively to work with children who need extra support.
Children enjoy the time they spend outside. They show good hand-to-eye coordination as they dig and make sandcastles in the sand tray. Children develop their coordination skills further as they manoeuvre ride-on cars and bicycles. Children build an obstacle course using the large construction outside and confidently balance across it.
Ever since my boys started here they've loved it. The girls are lovely and very helpful. Best nursery they've ever been to and one I'd recommend to any friend or family member.
