About this day nursery

The Stables Nursery in East Grinstead is a day nursery operating year-round, catering to children from birth up to four years old. They are open Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 6:15 pm, for 51 weeks a year.

The day nursery offers a variety of engaging activities daily, and meals including snacks, lunch, and tea are provided. Parents are asked to supply formula milk and nappies if needed.

The Stables Nursery supports various government funding schemes for early years education, including 15 and 30 hours for eligible families, and also participates in the FEET funding programme for two-year-olds. They also provide five hours of complimentary settling-in sessions to help children adjust to the nursery environment.

Pricing & funding

Fees are based on a flat hourly rate which includes snacks, lunch, tea, and daily activities. For children receiving government funding, a session-based consumable charge is applied to cover food, extra classes, and resources. Funded hours are delivered in fixed five-hour or ten-hour sessions.

How they support every child

SEND provision

Staff provide additional sessions to support individual speech and language skills to help children work towards their next steps. Staff model sign language to help younger children to communicate effectively.

Outdoor space

Children take great pleasure in exploring nature in the forest 'den'. Older children excitedly join in with their favourite rhymes and songs when using a parachute outdoors.

The Stables is an outstanding nursery and both of my children have had a wonderful time there. We looked at a lot of options locally and for me The Stables had the best atmosphere and facilities for the children. Everything from the freshly cooked lunches, external clubs that visit (music & movement, yoga, football and more) and daily trips to ‘The Den’ it is a lovely place to be. The staff also take a lot of time preparing the ‘school leavers’ so they are ready for their next chapter. My children left with confidence and happy memories. Thanks to all the staff (many of whom have been at the nursery for years)

I’ve had 3 children at the Stables over 4 years now. My youngest is just 2. The kids have all loved it. It’s a very nurturing caring environment and I have complete trust that my children will be and have been cared for extremely well. They are accommodating to your child eg with naps and we have happily used cloth nappies throughout our time there (other nurseries wouldn’t allow them). You get a good handover at the end of the day and you know they care about your children with the way they speak about them. We get a lovely hand made scrap book made through their time there to keep which is very special. There’s also plenty of outdoors time. As working parents it is so important to know your children are happy and developing well when you can’t be with them, couldn’t ask for more really.

My daughter has been at Stables for almost 2yrs, she loves it there - fantastic care and support, her development has been amazing and the time she spends outdoors in the large field opposite, the 'den' in the woods, and in the large front and rear playgrounds are so good for her development and for her to get plenty of fresh air. I can't fault Stables - the management and staff are excellent and I'll be forever grateful for the part they've played in my daughter's development.

We feel so fortunate to have found The Stables Nursery. We cannot fault one single thing. The children spend so much time outside, have fantastic home cooked meals, the staff are so kind and accommodating. It makes so much difference knowing that our child goes somewhere that they are happy while we need to work. The only thing we would change is for it to be closer to our home!

My daughter has just finished at the Stables having attending since before she was one. I can not rate the Stables highly enough. Zara adored attending and the staff have nurtured her in a way that means I am confident that entering school will be a breeze for her. I have found the program to be a good balance between education and playtime with focus on being outside as much as possible. The extra curricular activities put on are an added bonus and she enjoyed football and yoga. If you haven't already, do yourself and your child a favour and get them on the waiting list!
