The Valley Nursery School is a day nursery in Newquay for children aged two to four. 30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and accepts government funding for eligible two, three, and four-year-olds.

Ofsted inspected the day nursery in January 2024 and judged its overall effectiveness to be Outstanding. The inspector reported that children thrive at the setting and make excellent progress, showing constant enjoyment and motivation in their learning.

The curriculum includes hands-on experiences to enrich children’s vocabulary. Stories, songs, and nursery rhymes are integral to the daily routine, supported by a "library cart" system for home reading.

Ofsted noted the use of extensive indoor and outdoor environments and highlighted the support for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The inspector also found that partnerships with parents are exceptional, with parents reporting excellent communication from the nursery.

SEND provision

The special educational needs coordinator (SENCo) is an excellent advocate for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Staff work successfully with other professionals and parents, developing finely tuned plans so children with SEND achieve the best possible outcomes.

Outdoor space

The manager and staff make excellent use of the extensive range of exciting and well-resourced indoor and outdoor environments. The inspector observed the quality of education being provided, indoors and outdoors, and assessed the impact that this was having on children's learning.
